The iKoSoL platform is a web-based distribution and trading solution. It combines hosted and local software modules with a scalable network infrastructure. It links, through the internet, high-availability servers (ikoServe-global) with your own workgroup server (ikoServe-local) or appliance (ikoBox). It runs in any browser, or pda client, anywhere.
Mac OS X, Linux and Windows are all supported.

ikoWeb

ikoWeb is the public face of the system and is hosted with your website. It is template driven and will accommodate any style. It runs in any browser and accomodates the following modules:

  • News -> edit news and recent work
  • Folio -> portfolio galleries
  • Library -> metadata, lightboxes, custom searches
  • Shop -> online price calculator, myCart, myOrders
  • Pay -> secure payment gateway
  • Share -> customer collaboration (mySite)

ikoPay is an e-commerce billing module enabling access to the Verisign credit card secure payment gateway (most Australian banks) with real-time transaction processing. It reports, real-time or in batch, to the Library's clients database, accounting and exports to popular office applications.

ikoManager is the administration side of the system. This is where you take control and gain access to all the functionalities required by the chosen modules. All in the browser.

In addition to providing administrative access to to all ikoBrowse modules above, it offers a link to your accounting system.

  • ikoFins -> a bridge to financial applications.

Required and bundled is iBulc, a third-party Mac/Win upload client, to bulck-upload picture files from any desktop to the server (global or local).

    ikoServe

In addition to the above application modules the stand-alone version of the iKoSoL platform requires the following server applications.

ikoServe-local is the core of the iKoSoL stand-alone solution. It resides on the Library's network server and, as well as being a secure internet gateway and firewall, it supports all the applications and databases required by the Assets Management System:

  • Image capture and file management
  • Advanced image processing/sizing/watermarking
  • Metadata interchange (IPTC and XMP compliant)
  • Captioning and image information databate
  • Keywording and metadata creation
  • Database manager
  • Lightbox manager
  • Customer database
  • Billings and statistics

    > These applications are 'front-ended' by a role-based interface (ikoWeb).
    > Additional modules are easily added as new functionalities are required.
    > iKoSoL connects to Web Services (SOAP) and outputs RSS.

ikoServe-local runs on the ikoBox-mini appliance as well as on higher capacity apple Xserve servers.

ikoServe-global is a delegation of the local application on a high-availability host. It ensures the fastest possible delivery of large files to account customers and is capable of processing real-time credit-card payments as well. It combines a very fast searchable database with a set of image processing and web applications.

  • All content is template driven and administered through the browser. Pages are rendered dynamicaly from information contained in an enterprise database. Content is edited from the Library's administration interface (ikoManager).

ikoServe-portal is a multi-site version of the application. It enables the creation and management of multiple sites sharing a common infrastructure but trading with totally separate identities.
